Distance: ~54km. This is a one-way ride with a small section or two of good quality gravel pathway but all the rest is sealed.
Speed: 20-25 km
Getting there: Catch the 10:10 Vline train from Southern Cross station toward Waurn Ponds (Geelong)
10:10 from Southern Cross arrives Wyndham Vale 10:44.
Meet me either at Southern Cross on the train or at Wyndham Vale. Trains are every 20 mins during January so take an earlier one if you can as Vline capacity for bikes is limited to 12 over four bike racks.
(Wyndham Vale station has toilets located by the waiting room if anyone was wondering)
Route:
We'll start with some local paths in Wyndham Vale before heading to Werribee and then on to Point Cook and Skeleton Creek Trail. That will lead us east to visit "100 Steps of Federation" in Altona Meadows.
From the 100 steps, it is a short ride to Altona for our lunch spot (plenty of choices in Pier St). We'll use Bay Trail West after lunch from Altona to the City via Williamstown.
This ride finishes at Melbourne Exhibition Centre (Jeff's Shed) or you can exit early at Altona or Williamstown, for example, to a Metro train.
Note: Finish time is an outside estimate.
