Join us for the ultimate drinking game of games where every card is a different activity or mini-game (sometimes two!). We play with a standard deck of playing cards shuffled and spread face down in a circle around a shot glass. On your turn you simply guess red or black then pick up a card from the circle and reveal it. If you guessed correctly you assign a number of "drinks" (small sips, more on that later) equal to the number on the card (10 for face cards) to other players split however you like, if you guessed incorrectly you take that number of drinks. Then the real fun begins based on which card you drew:
2 - Is For You, Truth or Dare
3 - Is For Me, Thumb War
4 - Is For Dinosaur
5 - Is For Guys, Bust a Jive
6 - Is For Chicks, Story Time
7 - Sevens Game
8 - Pick a Mate
9 - Bust a Rhyme
10 - Categories
Jack - Make a Rule
Queen - Never Have I Ever
King - Toast, King's Cup
Ace - Waterfall
Joker - Anything Goes
See below for a full explanation of each one. Once the mini-game or activity is concluded you simply place your card face down on top of the shot glass with at least two corners hanging off the edge of the "mushroom" (the cards already up there). If you knock any cards off while doing so (or at any point during the game) you have to do a shot. Then play continues with the person to your left (clockwise).
You can join or quit anytime. Unlike the drinks from the mini-games / activities the "drinks" from guessing red or black are meant to be variable - if you're a stone cold sober former bartender take big drinks, if you're a tipsy lightweight take tiny sips. If you knock cards off the shot glass you can try to convince someone to take your shot for you but they are under no obligation to do so.
This will be during a much larger Metro Detroit Game Night event so at 11pm just head down to the basement and look for a table with a shot glass and a deck of cards and the host (Big O) who will be wearing a blue name tag. If enough people are up for it we can always play Flippy Cup after.
***Full Explanations of Each Card***
2 - Is For You, Truth or Dare - pick someone to take two drinks then ask them: "Truth or Dare?" If they choose dare, which is always the correct choice since dares are way more fun, dare them to do something *legal*. It behooves you not to choose something you (should) know they're probably not going to do. If they do the dare, bad ass. If they don't they have to drink. If they choose truth ask them an interesting question instead. If they answer, great. If they refuse they have to drink.
3 - Is For Me, Thumb War - take three drinks then pick someone to have a thumb war with. Pick a hand (right or left) clasp fingers with them say "One, two, three, four, I declare thumb war!" then try to pin their thumb under yours for a count of five seconds (thumb wrestling if you will). Loser drinks. If (and only if) both players agree they may arm wrestle instead but keep in mind if you knock any cards off the shot glass you still have to do a shot.
4 - Is For Dinosaur - pick someone to draw a dinosaur on with a sharpie BUT they pick where you draw it. If they refuse the dinosaur outright they are lame and must drink. If, after finding out where you have to draw the dinosaur, you refuse to draw it you are lame and must drink.
5 - Is For Guys, Bust a Jive - all guys drink then you choose between a dance move or a hand jive (basically a seated arms only dance move). If you chose dance move everybody stands up. Then you perform your dance move (standing) or hand jive (seated). The next person performs it followed by their own move. Then the third person performs both in order followed by their own. This continues until someone is unable to perform all of the previous moves in the correct order or can't come up with a new move at which point they drink.
6 - Is For Chicks, Story Time - all gals drink then you start a story with a *few* words (think "once upon a time" or "it was a dark and stormy night" or "Mary gave me", nothing too long). The next person repeats what you said and adds one word at the end. This continues until someone fucks it up at which point they drink.
7 - Sevens Game - start counting by saying "one". The next person says "two". The third persons says "three". This continues until someone reaches a multiple of seven (like 7, 14, 21, et cetera) or a number with seven in its digits (like 7, 17, 27, et cetera) at which point that person says "buzzfuck" instead and it reverses direction. The first person to screw up drinks. For example, if a person says "six" the next person to their left (clockwise) will say "buzzfuck" and then the same person who said "six" will say "eight" and play will continue to their right (counterclockwise). Beware the back to back "buzzfuck" in place of 27 and 28. If this sounds hard fear not for drunk people are very bad at this game - it will be over quickly.
8 - Pick a Mate - pick another player who hasn't already been chosen by someone previously drawing an eight and cheers / drink with them. For the rest of the game whenever one of you has to drink as a result of the game so does the other. If anyone else catches you not drinking together whichever one of you didn't drink has to drink double.
9 - Bust a Rhyme - say a word (other than words that have no rhymes). The next person says another word that rhymes with it. This continues until someone repeats a previous word, can't come up with a new rhyme, says something that doesn't rhyme, or takes too long. They drink.
10 - Categories - pick a category then announce it. Say something in that category. Then the next person says something else in that same category. This continues until someone repeats a previous entry, can't come up with anything, says something not in that category, or takes too long. They drink.
Jack - Make a Rule - make a rule that everyone playing the game must drink if they get caught doing (or not doing) OR cancel out a previously made rule. Classic rules include things like not saying any form or the word "drink", not touching your cell phone, not touching your hair (or face), paying someone a compliment every time you're forced to drink as a result of the game, et cetera. Get creative!
Queen - Never Have I Ever - say "Never have I ever" then something that you have (or have not) done. Everyone at the table who has done it, including you if you chose something you have done, has to drink.
King - Toast, King's Cup - give a toast for everyone at the table to drink to then pour some (non-contaminated) beverage into an empty cup (in the case of the 1st king) or add to the cup already going (in the case of subsequent kings). Whoever draws the fourth king has to drink the whole cup / concoction.
Ace - Waterfall - make sure everyone has at least half a beverage to start. Start drinking. As soon as you do, the person to your left (clockwise) must start drinking. This proceeds quickly around the table until everyone is drinking. With the exception of you, no one may stop drinking until the person to their right stops drinking or they run out of beverage.
Joker - Anything Goes - come up with your own drinking mini-game or activity or repeat the mini-game or activity from one of the other cards. Everyone has their own rules for King's Cup so this is a great chance to showcase your favorite or get creative and come up with a new one. If it's epic enough we'll add it to our rules!
