UPDATE: Rather than allow the weather to dictate this get together, I have changed the meeting place to Birdies Bistro on Griggs Quay on the Saltings. This is for two reasons first there is a good chance the weather will be fine to walk and we will decide from the comfort and warmth of this Bistro and secondly, it's one of our members birthdays and I can't truck up again and forget it like last year! It's understandable for those travelling far that a cup of coffee and chat may seem a bit of a way so I will leave it up to you... if the weather is fine we will walk over to St Ives!

This is an easy to moderate linear walk (travelling back by bus), starting in Lelant and walking along the Porthkidney beach rejoining the coastal path over Carbis Bay beach, along the woodland path to Porthminster Point, then over Porthminster Beach into the St Ives and the harbour. We will amble over to the Island and St Nicholas Chapel, then follow the SW Coastal Path around to Porthmeor Beach. We will rest, water, feed and chat at a local inn, before returning by train.

Meeting at 10:45 and setting off at 11:00 prompt. The walking distance is 4 miles and will take about three and a half hours including stops and train journey back to Lelant Station:

  • Bring water, snacks, walking footwear and weather appropriate clothing (as a bit muddy here and there).
  • H&S your responsibility and if you bring along your well behaved pet.

Parking and meeting at St Uny Church, Lelant (there is no charge to park here) and to round off the day, returning by bus (as there no train services on this day) to Lelant. It will cost £2-3, take about 10 mins to Lelant Station with a short walk (10 min) from the bus stop to the Church car park.

The post code is TR26 3DY, any probs with your Sat Nav, search for St Uny Church, Lelant. There is also additional parking beside the road for several cars and we will meet at the entrance to the Church, at the top of the small car park.

If you are coming by car and don't mind offering a lift share, please message on here.
