ps ... So, a hogshead, what is it really? The head of a hog, or a unit of measure (or both?). Other than the finest Colorado brewer of real ale, for us, it is a unit of measure, about 63 gallons, or 4 1/2 barrels of beer. in the 'modern' world of sixtle's or pins, it's about 12 5 gallon kegs, so let's get drinking.
As for the beer, Cask Conditioned Ales, the brewers fill FIRKINS with fresh live beer, still in an unfinished form with lovely residual yeast. The beer remains fresh & alive throughout the entire process. The freshest beer can be. Let's see ...
