Mt Becher
Details
This hike happening will be weather dependent. There is snow near the top so micro-spikes could be useful but not essential. Also I have it as a 6 hour hike, but it could be a bit shorter or longer depending on circumstances. This hike is about 14km in total with a substantial elevation gain from the parking lot. The first couple of kms consists of hiking up the old ski runs of what was formally know as the Forbidden Ski hill. Mt. Becher's elevation is about 1385 meters making the total elevation gain about 600 meters or so. The trail is well defined with the summit in an open alpine setting. This hike would be considered moderate with our scale though I was told that a hiking app. (can't remember which one) suggested the hike to be hard. This will be a moderate hike in speed with breaks as are needed.
Also if you are interested in carpooling, please make some indication of your interest to the group and try to arrange it before hand. We generally meet at the Starbucks at the Chapters store near Woodgrove Mall at 7am for convenience sake unless you have made other arrangements. Generally $10 -15 is a reasonable amount to pay the driver to cover for the trip.
Items to bring:
