Walking Tour: 400 years of history tour and hike through northern Manhattan (by NYC Guide Greg!)

Greg has decided that to better chance of a pleasant walk; we’re moving the event to Monday the 25th at 1:30pm.

Join us for a special walking tour led by our friend Greg, a licensed NYC guide and history enthusiast!

We will visit three historic Fort Tryon, Cloisters.., representing 400 years of New York City history.

The northern tip of Manhattan—today’s Inwood—was one of the last areas with strong Lenape presence.

  • A Lenape settlement called Shorakkapoch was located in this area
  • The famous symbolic “purchase” is often associated with the whole island, but actual Dutch control expanded gradually, not all at once
  • Even after 1626, Lenape people continued living in northern Manhattan for some time

This is a joint event with Dharma Drink Meetup.
