NEED A KAYAK: Cudgen Lake and Bar-B-Q
Details
Meet for a 8.00am (NSW time) to complete paperwork and be issued gear.
Come and explore the lake and upper section of Cudgen Crk, followed by a post-paddle bar-b-q.
Cudgen Lake is a large wetland that feeds the head waters of Cudgen Crk. Located just over 7 km south of Kingscliff in the suburb of Bogngar, it is at the centre of Cudgen Nature Reserve (see link below) and represents a haven for a wild range of endangered fauna and flora. Sea birds are in abundance including Whistling Kites that can be seen fishing the lake. The lake feeds into Cudgen Crk, that winds its way through Melaleuca and Casuarinas eventually ending up at Kingscliff, however we will only be exploring the upper half of this magical creek.
Afterwards, we are a BYO bar-b-q, so if you are so inclined make sure to bring something to eat and drink. We will supply the salad, bread and condiments.
