What we’re about
Nürnberg Data Science is a group for talented and experienced data scientists interested in sharing ideas, knowledge and expertise. We believe in open exchange, practical insights, and learning from each other to grow as professionals. Together, we explore real-world applications of data science, discuss new trends and technologies, and support each other in solving challenging problems.
By connecting with local companies, universities, and tech communities, we aim to contribute to a strong and innovative data ecosystem in the Nuremberg metropolitan region and beyond—throughout Franconia. A vibrant data science community benefits everyone: it accelerates innovation in industry, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and creates opportunities for both newcomers and experts. When knowledge flows freely, startups can grow faster, established companies stay competitive, and researchers find real-world partners for their ideas.
By strengthening the data ecosystem in Franconia, we help the region position itself as a future-oriented hub for AI, analytics, and digital transformation—driving value not just for individual members, but for the entire economy and society.

🧠 Talk: LLMs for Service Logs
Service logs contain rich insights into product quality, but their unstructured nature makes them difficult to analyze at scale. Nicolai Frosch and Valentin Lange will present a method that leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) and conventional machine learning to automatically extract, cluster, and structure information from millions of service notifications. They will detail a pipeline for automated label generation and topic extraction that requires no prior training data or domain expertise. The ultimate goal is to create a fully autonomous system that continuously identifies technical issues from real-world service data.
Speakers
Nicolai C. Frosch is a Technical Project Manager at infoteam Software AG, responsible for solution-oriented data projects with a focus on BI systems, ETL pipelines & data engineering, as well as machine learning and generative AI. He regularly shares his expertise, most recently with a talk on Agentic RAG and process intelligence at the “Best of Digital Factory Day” 2025 and the Award of Innovation of the Software Ring e.G. in Nuremberg 2024.
Valentin Lange is a Machine Learning Engineer who specializes in applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve real-world industrial problems. His background in mechanical engineering from FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg provides a valuable perspective to bridge the gap between physical processes and digital intelligence. He has extensive experience developing hybrid AI workflows on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Databricks to analyze large-scale text data and identify critical problem areas.🗓️ Agenda
