Start the New Year on the right foot and use both feet to join us for a beautiful 10 mile lake loop hike at Lake Whelchel Gaffney, SC. This hike is relatively flat and easy with less than 500 feet of elevation gain. There is an option to do 8 miles if you skip the new trails on a peninsula called the Paul Peninsula Trail. The trail winds through shaded forests and open meadows, featuring small wooden footbridges and lovely water views. Look for turtles, deer, lizards, squirrels, numerous various birds, and other wildlife.

Restrooms along the hike at the boat ramp and possibly Porta-Jon’s at the trailhead.

Pack snacks, lunch, and water. Hiking poles optional.

People say this hiking area offers a well-maintained trail with scenic views of the lake and woods. They highlight the peaceful and quiet atmosphere, and the moderate terrain with minimal elevation changes. They also like the ample parking and the availability of restrooms at the boat landing.

Afterwards we will to Daddy Joes Beach House BBQ and Grill. Address: 1400 W Floyd Baker Blvd.
