We will meet by 9:30 am at Ongs Hat parking lot on Turkey Buzzard Bridge rd. From RT 70 / 72 Circle follow Magnolia rd 1.5 miles then right onto Turkey Buzzard rd. Sign in and safety Talk. We will then shuttle 10 minutes to rt 72 and Sooy Place rd to begin our hike.
Today we will move at a moderate pace with breaks for clothing adjustments photos, bio and lunch. We will be entering Brendan T Byrne State Forest our first stop will be at Pakim Pond for a short bathroom break. Next up a stop at the fire tower, this one you will be able to climb if you wish. Good idea to ware gloves for winter climb. Then off to Deep Hollow Pond for our lunch stop.
Must be OCSJ member & willing to shuttle. **The shuttle is not part of the OCSJ event.**We must have volunteers to take the shuttle drivers back to their cars. Please no more than 4 per vehicle.
Each section will take place on a Friday through January and February.
Bring water a lunch or snack, hat, gloves, layer your clothing preferably not cotton, extra socks, boots (water/mud expected), bug repellant and sunscreen. You might also want hiking poles and (Yak trax's or Micro spikes are useful for Icy conditions) Leader will have hand warmers available if needed.
Please inform your leader if there are any health conditions that might affect you during this hike.
Check Meetup for any changes 8 am before the hike. Rain, snow, or ice may cancel.
