Positive Psychology is the scientific study of the processes and conditions that contribute to human well-being. It was started as a formal psychological branch by Martin Seligman in 1998, building on Abraham Maslow’s Humanistic movement. The intent was to provide a response to previous studies which tended to focus more on the negative behavior of humans.

Let’s then take a look at this multifaceted domain that traces philosophical roots all the way back to Greek Eudaimonia, as well as the Zen and meditative practices of Eastern philosophy.

Basing from peer reviewed studies, we will first discuss what well-being and flourishing mean, before touching upon its applications for today’s digital world.
