Going to the movies used to be a thing I did by myself. But lately I've rediscovered how much fun it is to go with friends and to talk about it with them afterwards. So, here we are!
Providence Movie Club is a group where we'll go to a movie and then grab a drink after it's over to hang out and chat. I'm pretty omnivorous with my movie taste, so one week we could see something at the Avon, and the next be front and center at Morbius. Post-movie will change as well and hit bars, coffee shops, breweries, boba tea places, etc.
Don't worry about being a film expert or anything. I imagine conversations will go like most book clubs where you talk about the book for seven minutes and then everyone drops it.

See all- The Room (RKO Army Shadowcast)AS220 Black Box Theater, Providence, RI
There's a local group called RKO Army, and they do shadowcasts of various movies around the state. From their website: "[shadowcasting] is the simultaneous physical imitation by one or more people (the cast) to the audio and/or video of a pre-existing production. To enhance the performance, the cast may make use of props and wear costumes that resemble or help give an interpretation of a character from the production." Movie Club has gone to their Rocky Horror performances twice, and it's a great time. I've been dying to make it to one of their The Room performances and finally, finally, the stars have aligned!
Join us on Friday, May 30th for a RKO Army shadowcast of The Room at the AS220 Black Box theater. If you want to hang out and meet some people beforehand, meet at the AS220 bar at 7:30pm. The performance itself will start at 9:00pm. As for the plot, well, if you know, you know.
When it gets closer to the date, I'm sure AS220 will have a ticket link on their website. You can buy tickets at the door, but you do run the risk of it possibly being sold out. HOWEVER, one time they said they were sold out and we were still able to get in. I'll share the ticket link, though, once it's out there.

I know I always say I'm excited for an event, but this time I really really mean it! To celebrate Pride Month, we're partnering with local group Queers & Beers of Rhode Island to screen the iconic But I'm a Cheerleader at ISCO Spirits!
Starring Natasha Lyonne, But I'm a Cheerleader is a delightful, highly-stylized queer comedy. Megan is an all-American girl. A cheerleader. She has a boyfriend. But Megan doesn’t like kissing her boyfriend very much. And she’s pretty touchy with her cheerleader friends. Her conservative parents worry that she must be a lesbian and send her off to “sexual redirection” school, where she must, with other lesbians and gays, learn how to be straight.
Join us on Thursday, June 5th for our But I'm a Cheerleader event with Queers & Beers of Rhode Island! The event will start at 6:30pm for people to mingle and have some drinks. The movie will start around 7:15ish. AND the screening will be outside so that's cool! No tickets required but maybe buy a drink or two to support ISCO. See you then!
