Join us for an up and back 4.4 mile hike at Little Mountain Open Space Preserve. The hike begins at the entrance of O'Hair Park at 870 Sutro Avenue, Novato, California. The first 1.3 miles is flat and easy, then the difficulty goes to 5 with an elevation change of 600'. We will begin at the O'Hair Park entrance, take a left on the Little Mountain Trail which then joins the Doe Hill Fire Road. This FR goes along the base of Little Mountain. We will cross over at the end of Center Road and take the Stafford Lake Trail. We will climb up to get hilltop views of surrounding open space. We will then turn back. Depending on the pace, the hike will take between 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours.
Wear layered clothing, hiking footwear, and bring hiking poles if needed. We have a five minute waiting period to honor everyone's time. The hike will begin at 9:05. Please let us know if you will be joining us.
DIRECTIONS: From HWY 101, take the Atherton Avenue/San Marin Dr. exit. Head west on San Marin Drive. When San Marin Drive crosses Novato Blvd, the street name changes to Sutro Avenue. Continue straight on Sutro Ave. for about 200 yards. Parking is to the right.
