About this special event:
For many of us living in areas shaped or influenced by Christianity, our lives may have become filled with or surrounded by Christmas-time songs, gatherings, food, drink, family events, parties, and religious rituals and ceremonies. For some, these may not be full of joy and can even be reminders of something painful or uncomfortable. Many people may be struggling emotionally around this time, so RfR is hosting an informal support group / hangout for everyone who may feel isolated and want to talk. Also welcome are those who aren't struggling but might just want to say hello and share a friendly face. Please come as you are and drop in as needed. This meeting is open to all and will be held on zoom. Attendees are welcome to share, but may also remain anonymous if they so choose.

This event is meant for support on what for some can be a challenging day. This SPECIAL Christmas Day (Dec 25) support group/hangout is more casual than a regular support group so it's ok if you can't stay for long or need to drop in partway through. This can be a challenging day for some, so we want to provide support to each other. Please join us !

What Recovering from Religion is about:
The primary focus of Recovering From Religion is to provide ongoing and personal support to individuals as they examine, change, or possibly choose to let go of some of their religious beliefs. We are NOT here to deconvert anyone or tell anyone what to believe, but we ARE here to offer understanding, support, and healing during what can often be a challenging and emotional transitional period. As such, RfR support group meetings are safe and anonymous places to express these doubts, fears, and experiences without biased feedback or proselytizing.

We are here to help each other through this process.

There is no cost to attend this special event but, if you feel so inclined, donations can be made at https://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/donate

If you need someone to talk to before your meeting date, RfR offers both a hotline and an online chat for immediate support.
Call (844) 368-2848 or visit www.recoveringfromreligion.org to chat online.

Please note that RfR volunteers are peer supporters, not licensed therapists. If you feel you may benefit from professional mental health support, we encourage you to explore the Secular Therapy Project. This service connects you with thoroughly vetted therapists who provide only evidence-based, non-religious treatment. Fees, insurance, and sliding scale options vary by provider.
