Day Hike (2A) - Fairy Falls Trail to Beale/Shingle Falls (Placer Group)

Join the Sierra Club Placer Group on Sunday February 22, 2026, for a day hike in the Spenceville Wildlife Area. We'll be hiking out and back on the Fairy Falls Trail. This is a hike of “moderate distance” suitable for those new to hiking who want to try a longer distance on a relatively easy trail. Well-behaved dogs on leash and under control at all times are OK. We estimate the hike will take 2.5 to 3 hours at a moderate to easy pace. The pace of the hike will be on the slower side of moderate. Hike stats: 5.2 miles, elevation gain 500’. More than a light rain cancels.
The Spenceville Wildlife Area features varied terrain, including meadows, trees, rocks and a 100 ft. waterfall. Wildlife sightings are possible. The trail is exposed with minimal shade.
Bring: Sturdy Boots and sunscreen are recommended. Bring the essentials, including water, snacks/lunch, sunscreen, and layers for changeable temperatures. Also $$ for carpool. (Note: Recommended carpool reimbursement rate is up to $7.00 per hour per carpool participant, or whatever you and your driver agree to.)

Leader will check to make sure you have a completed form, then you'll carry it with you in your pack. Each participant will also be required to sign the Sierra Club Sign-In and Waiver form at the trailhead or meetup location.

Carpooling - Meet at 8:00AM at Taylor Road Park-n-Ride (adjacent to Golfland-Sunsplash). Vehicles will depart by 8:15 a.m. Additionally, while Sierra Club encourages carpooling, Sierra Club does not require or organize carpools.
Trailhead: For those meeting at trailhead, meet at approximately 9:00 AM.

Notes: The drive to the trailhead includes approximately 5 miles on unpaved road that may be rough and/or rutted. There are no restrooms in the Spenceville WA.
