Letting Go of the Past: Buddhist Teachings on Guilt, Resentment & Acceptance
Details
Why is it so hard to ‘let go’ or forgive others or ourselves?
In this down-to-earth half-day retreat (in-person or online), we’ll explore simple but radical shifts that help us move from shame, rejection, resentment, and false acceptance that allows harm, into a place where compassion, understanding, patience, and clear boundaries can coexist.
We’ll look at how we replace paralysing guilt (“I’m a bad person”) with wise regret (“That was unhelpful”) in ways that lead to repair, healthier self-esteem, and a kinder way forward.
Expect two sessions of practical Buddhist tools, guided reflection and meditation, and space for questions.

We are embracing a sliding scale policy for this event, guided by the Buddhist principle of generosity and inclusivity. Samadhi is a charity, and we have suggested donations that help cover the cost of putting on this event and our day-to-day costs. Choosing the higher option includes a donation to support our activities for the benefit of all.
We firmly believe, however, that financial constraints should never be a barrier to participation. If the suggested amount is beyond your means, please choose the lower option or contribute what you can — every offering helps make this event possible for the collective good. Without your honesty and generosity, we wouldn’t be able to make this event happen!
