About us
Welcome to the official Meetup group of the San Diego Section of the IEEE! sdieee.org SDIEEE
We support and serve San Diego engineering and computing professionals, and aim to create a community of members who want to learn and share their knowledge in electrical engineering, communications, computer science and related disciplines.
We welcome all interested parties to attend our programs and events, and you do not need to be an IEEE member to participate.
Our organization is responsible for coordinating IEEE activities for much of Southern California. This area has a diverse technical and scientific community in industry, academia, entrepreneurship, and defense. Our objectives are the educational and technical advancement of electrical and electronic engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering and allied disciplines. We are organized as a geographic unit (the San Diego Section of IEEE) and host international technical units (local Chapters of IEEE Technical Societies)
Our Technical Society Chapters include:
-Aerospace and Electronic Systems
-Antennas & Propagation, Solid State Circuits, Microwave Theory and Techniques, Electron Devices, Circuits and Systems
-Broadcast Technology
-Communications
-Components, Packaging & Manufacturing Technologies
-Computational Intelligence

About the event
Engineering teams are embedding AI across their entire development lifecycle. The question: what happens when velocity outpaces understanding?
This month's CTO Talks brings together two perspectives: one advocating for AI acceleration, the other defending engineering rigor, code ownership, and long-term reliability.
Tess Chu, Director at ServiceNow, brings 20 years leading large-scale technology initiatives across consumer and enterprise sectors. Her expertise spans distributed systems, infrastructure, scalability, and architecture. She's built platforms that hold up under pressure and knows exactly what happens when they don't.
Larry Heminger, CTO at Jabra Hearing, brings 24 years of product and engineering leadership across software, hardware, and cloud. He scaled teams from startup to successful public exit at EcoATM and led AI modernization efforts at Calsense. Larry earned his BS in Computer Engineering from UC San Diego, an executive MBA from USC, and was a San Diego Top Tech award honoree in 2020.
Whether you lead engineering teams or build products, this conversation is for you.
See you on June 15!
