Hike to View Rare Crested Saguaros
Details
Browns Ranch has a large number of saguaros, including some that are over 200 years old. A fan-shaped growth happens on only a few, resulting in a rare “crested saguaro”. This hike will point out many of the crested saguaros throughout the central area of Browns.
The hike will feature veteran steward Bill Jackson - he and other Conservancy science staff have studied crested saguaros for many years and are considered experts. Come out and learn more about the lifecycle of the amazing saguaros in our Sonoran desert.
This hike is rated DIFFICULT and is best for experienced hikers as we will cover 7.8 miles in about 4 hours.
Bathrooms and water are available at the trailhead. Bring water and snacks for the trail. No dogs please. Arrive 15 minutes before start of hike.
This is a free event offered by the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. Space is limited! To join this event please click ATTEND.
