Happy New Year, everyone! Let’s march into 2026 with renewed energy and focus on our shared goals, to make this the year we really come together to make our dreams come true. This month the attention will be on the art of cinematography, on that special window into what our visions ought to look like on the screen.
It is said that there are four directors: the screenwriter, the actual director, the cinematographer and the editor. Each brings their own skills and vision and each puts their own unique stamp on the final product. The January panel, moderated by producer/actor Anthony De La Cruz, includes Mike Logan of Spark Studios and Kraftwerks Productions, Jeff Arballo of Arballo Entertainment, Mauricio Navarro of Influence Films, and student filmmaker Daniel Hernandez. Panelists will discuss why they chose to be cinematographers as well as equipment they use and their current projects, followed by audience Q & A.

We also have a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT about a future FilmNet offering, so be sure to keep your antennae up and your ears unplugged!

Back by popular demand . . . SUSHI and POKE BOWLS by celebrity Chef Mer! And as always, we’ll be enjoying a red carpet and photo stations c/o Tony Amat and our beloved partner R3 Productions, drinks for sale, a studio tour (get there at 4:30 pm!), more free headshots and lots of glitzy, campy, Hollywood-style fun. And of course, more exciting networking opportunities to give you the chance to make ALL the connections you really want to make.

Filmmakers Network San Diego's Monthly Event is back!!! At long last we’re starting up monthly networking events again to support the local film community. It's going to be even more hands-on, interactive and productive this time. Besides networking and hosting guest speakers, we will showcase short films and promo material, work on pitches and invite industry gatekeepers to hear them, put on fun games and contests as well as many more enriching activities. Networking includes supporting local producers, creators, actors, crew and film professionals in their effort to assemble teams and develop content and marketing opportunities, along with original FilmNet content and a documentary of our group, events, participants and their projects. Feel free to bring a guest or two! Below is the schedule for our first meeting:

4:30–6:30 / Studio tour, doors open for sign-up and seating
6:30–7:15 / Intro and success stories
7:15–8:15 / Cinematography panel
8:15–9:00 / Panel, Q & A, winner of costume party announced

Actors, feel free to bring headshots. Business cards or any promotional materials a plus. $5.00 admission at the event.
