Minnehaha Trail at Fort Snelling SLOW WALK
Details
Join us as we walk a lovely path in the bluffs above the Mississippi River on the Minnehaha Trail. Please note: there is NO limit to the number of people who can attend - this app requires a paid account to change the number of attendees, but know that if there's an event with this group YOU ARE WELCOME, no matter what the numbers say!
We'll plan on our usual chill pace and go in a loop, around 3 miles total.
I don't know what the weather will be like by then, but be sure to dress appropriately and depending on ice/snow, ice traction cleats might help too. I'll keep an eye on things and will call off the event no later than an hour before start time if the weather isn't cooperating!
More important info:
MEETING ADDRESS: the parking lot next to the Thomas C. Savage Visitor Center located deep within Fort Snelling State Park; the address is 500 Snelling Lake Road, St. Paul. Park permits are required to enter the park, but you can check one out for a week at your local library for free, or purchase one from the park office at the entrance to the park.
TIME: We'll meet between 10:15 and 10:30 a.m. start the walk at 10:30 a.m. Please note that while I do check my phone before we start, sometimes the signal is pretty weak at this location and I might miss messages from folks.
Some things to know:
*Please do not leave anything in your car and lock your doors while we're on our walk.
*Look for someone with a lilac handkerchief tied to a walking stick so we can gather in a group.
*Recommendations: ***Dress appropriately for the weather. In colder temps this includes lots of thin layers with a hat, gloves, and thick socks.***
*Pets are welcome as long as they remain on a leash or in a stroller. The pet owner is responsible for poop clean-up and disposal. Please ask before allowing your pet to greet others - some folks might not be comfortable with new pets.
