This is a fun, casual social game — not a competition. Whether you've never held a racquet before or just want to try something new, come along and join in!
🔒 Safe & secure — Griffith University has on-site security at all times, so it's a safe environment for everyone on campus.
Schedule:
7:55 – Meet up outside
8:00 – Set up net & posts
8:10 – Play! 🏸
8:55 – Pack down, put net & posts back to their place
👟 Sneakers, joggers or running shoes are fine - no climbing or heavily cleated/lugged shoes (to protect the floor)
🏸 The host will bring racquets and shuttlecocks for everyone. But in case you have a racquet at home and happy to bring it for yourself, you can get discounted joining fee (Use "OwnRacquetDiscount" promo code before payment).

Early bird pricing is in effect. Just like professional sports and music events, tickets are cheapest when you book early — prices will increase as the event date approaches, so secure your spot now!
Why We Require Payment in Advance
The venue for sport events can only be booked in advance, so even if no one joins, the organiser has already paid for the booking. Additionally, Meetup membership and service fees are a real financial burden.
Getting there — for first-time visitors by car!
The badminton courts are inside the Recreation Hall, which sits next to the Aquatic Centre. Keep an eye out for signs to the M12 Recreation Hall or Aquatic Centre on the way in.
There is only one road in, coming off Gaza Rd via the on-ramp to the southbound motorway. Take that turn, then go straight at the roundabout following signs toward the Aquatic Centre. Continue through the car parks — the Recreation Hall is just ahead, next to the Aquatic Centre and across the road from the outdoor courts car park.
Public transport
Take the busway to Griffith University station, Upper Mt Gravatt (stop ID 010819). Walk past the tennis courts and continue up the road a short distance. You'll see a large grey building on your right — head up the small hill and the entrance is right there.
We will use tournament-grade badminton shuttlecocks which are crafted with premium goose feathers and a solid cork base to provide elite flight stability, speed precision, and consistent feel. The absolute gold standard. These are the official shuttlecocks used in the Olympic Games and Badminton World Federation (BWF) international events.
