What we’re about

Hi! I am attempting to start a group, based on not being able to find something similar myself. I'm a socially awkward person who still desires socialisation just the same. I don't drink, and I'm not into the rugged outdoors. I'm just looking to meet some like-minded people, make friends, and hang out really doing various things. Since I'm also broke a lot of the time lol, I wanted to make it really casual, so that people don't feel they need to spend any money to take part. I am a little on the 'nerdy' side. I like to live a healthy lifestyle. I am a lifelong activist. I am allergic to pets, so sorry, but no animals.

My goal is to form 'intentional friendships', more like what use to be the norm a few decades ago. Not just endlessly texting one another, and too busy to squeeze someone in. But really being present in each other's lives. Feeling OK just showing up at each other's houses, etc. I picked some categories that I liked, even though it wouldn't let me choose about 30 more that I initially selected lol. It's limited to only 15 choices, so, I did the best I could. If it's not on the list, it doesn't mean I'm not interested in it. My profile let me select a lot more interests if you want to have a look.

I want to mention I am on the spectrum, and so I do things a bit different than the average person, and so anyone similar is more than welcome. This isn't an exclusive group, though I am trying to find an outlet for people like me who otherwise struggle to find a way to meet people. Whether you are a single parent, a busy worker, shy, or any way 'different'. I am hoping we can meet up, maybe hash out some ideas of what we would like to do, no pressure. Just be yourself. This is just to gage initial interest. I welcome suggestions.

I had wanted to talk more about individual interests, and what I was trying to go for in creating this group. I think we all seek like minded people, to find our 'tribe'. I didn't want to sound exclusive, but I am generally looking for people who feel the same way I do about certain interests, while also creating a space for those not really interested in the status quo. People who feel like 'aliens' lol in a similar way that I do. That don't really 'vibe' with American culture overall. Other than general sci fi/fantasy, I also enjoy what they call 'cottagecore', and other alternative lifestyles, and aesthetics. I am 'straight edge', and do not drink, smoke, or do drugs. I like to travel, and I have lived abroad. I like to experience different cultural events. I am very politically active, leaning more to the left. But my views are based on individual issues, and not party lines. I care deeply about environmental, and other social issues. I am a strong promoter of free thinking, but also basing things off reality, facts, and data. I believe the USA needs radical structural changes to be more in line with other progressive, developed countries. I value intelligence, and strong principles. I enjoy cosy mysteries, both reading, and TV. I prefer TV to film, including some 90s comedies, most Sci fi, Asian media, Anne of Green Gables, Studio Ghibli, Ninjago. Just to name a few. I do tend to have 'special interests' being autistic, and am a little obsessed with being healthy. Things I do not like are American politics, misogyny, horror, crudeness, party culture, rap/hip hop, aggressive dog breeds, wood smoke, dangerous driving.
