What we’re about
Songwriters of the world, let’s...
Get together, perform our songs & collaborate on-line and in person at open mics in and around London & wherever you live
Get better by doing it - get a feel for how good your song & performance is from how it goes down
Get writing - write a new song for next month’s show, or bring a half finished idea to get feedback and direction if it's not writing itself
Get collaborating - they say good songs are written but great songs are co-written. Get co-writing with us, your community. Our community is now forging new & surprising partnerships - it's the best fun you can imagine to collaborate with you'd never come across in your day-day life. Get connected. Get your name on our collaboration register & you'll see 🍀
Get your name down – check the next virtual sessions and lookout for the next face-face session. Even if you aren’t playing, get your name down anyway - come and support your community, check out the talent, give feedback, have a chat
Get a song on Soundcloud, Spotify, Youtube, Facebook etc, put a link to it on our showcase register and we’ll feature it on a dedicated public play list - like this
Don't get why we're called 'Songwriters Unplugged Night'? The original idea was to get 15 songwriters together in the function room of a London pub and play our songs to each other in the round once a month. We're working our way up to that with regular online sessions, piggy-backing on existing open mics, and we'll have our own evening in a lovely London pub before your new album is released, so we're keeping the SUN name & we'll grow into it
PS this isn’t a commercial venture, just self-help & making our own entertainment - so come on...
Get involved - join the world's most passionate songwriters here at SUN. Do it today!
Upcoming events (4+)

Songwriters! Come perform a couple of your original songs for our songwriter community at our monthly online songshare
Our songshare is a low-stress & easy way to keep your performance skills & confidence topped up + get to know other active songwriters. It's your monthly songwriters' club night - 7:30pm on the 2nd Weds of each month. Put it in your diary & use the deadline to motivate you tonight
New song, old song, 1/2 a song, a lyric only, just a melody - we'll take what you've got. If you're struggling with a song/an arrangement, come play/say it and get suggestions from the your peers
Not yet ready to share? Come anyway - listen, chat, make it your space
And at 'half-time' we'll continue our series of 10-minute talks on songwriting technique by one of our founder members
The Zoom session will open 10 minutes early to help get your sound sorted out. NB there is a knack to getting a good live sound in Zoom: you need to "enable original sound for musicians" in Zoom settings before the meeting and set 'original sound for musicians' to 'On' when you perform
If unsure, please check this link/ask for help BEFORE the meeting: Configuring professional audio settings for Zoom Meetings
SUN isn’t a commercial venture, it's just self-help & giving you a chance to perform your songs & get better by doing it.

- Songwriters' face-face Open MicThe Marlborough Arms, London, WC1E 7HJ
Songwriters - come to our (for this month only) June 17th Tuesday face-face songwriters' open mic:
- firstly click HERE
- then check the date of the event matches the date of this Meetup event(!) and when it does
- click 'Get tickets'
You’ll have to register but it’s all free & legit.Sorry it's more complicated than a normal event but we’re piggy-backing off an exisiting open mic right in the centre of London at the Marlborough Arms near Goodge St tube station, ie we’re booking up EARLY slots at their Tuesday open mic, and we're doing it on the first Tuesday of each month EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE(!) which is actually 3rd Tuesday – check-in from 7, music starts 7:30
Also... do please remember to say in Meetup that you're attending so we know who's coming & can say hello
I usually book the 1st slot and I know from our last event here that all slots will get booked so do get in early if you want to play. Also I'd advise against booking any slot beyond the 12th, as things can overrun and you may not get to play + your songwriter friends come from far afield and may not be able to stay till the end... book an early slot
If you miss out on a place, why not come along anyway to check it out & chat with other songwriters face-face! Again, please do click in Meetup anyway that you're attending but not playing so we can look out for you
The Marlborough is a nice pub, good food and Michael (the host) is very welcoming – I often go and can tell you it will be a fun evening
Hope to see you there,
StuPS remember open mics can be a bit informal and do occasionally get cancelled at short notice - I've never known it to happen here but just in case best sign up for their Telegram notifications when you book
