Art & Craft Hangout!
Summer Moon coffee, 9127 metcalf avenue, Overland Park , KS, USLet's do art together!
We meet up every other Sunday to hang out in a park coffee shop and do art together. Whether you do painting, drawing, crocheting, digital art, collaging, etc, you are welcome! Even if you don’t feel creative and just want to come and hang out. This is a super low pressure group no one is here to judge your skill level, we’re all just here to do art in community. And if you don’t feel like you are creative or don’t have ideas, there is a great book that some of us follow called 365 Days of Creativity. It is a book by Lorna Scobie featuring 365 prompts (such as “fill the page with patterns” or “draw a sea” etc.). It is available at places like Barnes and Noble or online.
Our location varies so make sure you keep an eye on where we are meeting each week!
Bring any arts or crafts you want to do while we chill!
How to find us: There will be a sign on the table!
Parking situation: There is a parking lot with plenty of space!(This even was previously named: Art and Craft event : 365 Days of Creativity so if you’ve been to one of those it’s basically the same thing!)

Mental & Emotional Health Discussion
Johnson County Library, Monticello, 22435 W. 66th St, Shawnee, ks, USLet's go deeper than our everyday conversations and connect over a discussion about emotions and mental health. This is a safe space to have meaningful discussions about feelings and experiences we go through in life. If you're interested in reading, learning about, and discussing these topics, this group is for you!
About the book:
We will use Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown as a framework and prompt for discussions. Brené has compiled 87 emotional and cognitive experiences and detailed a grounded theory for connection! Reading the book is optional, as I'll likely read much of it aloud during our meetings and have a copy available at meetings. I've found it to be a great resource. Please check it out from your local library or purchase a copy! It's also available as an audiobook. How to find us:
After entering the Johnson County Library Monticello location (in Shawnee), proceed upstairs (if you look up and to the right, you can see the glass-walled, semicircular conference room overlooking the lobby). At the top of the stairs, make a U-turn. The room will then be on your right. If you get turned around, ask the staff where the conference room is located. Our reservation is under SGII Mental and Emotional Health Group.
Notes:
Our location is subject to change month-to-month because of the availability of library study rooms. So, double-check the posted location and comments before heading out!Space is limited. Please be mindful of others who might want to attend the event. If something comes up, modify your rsvp.
