The approximately 5-mile loop runs up against the mountains and includes views of the Front Range and a WWI memorial. Plus, a really big rock.

Please note that there are plenty of trails reflected on Alltrails; we will take an extended hike beyond the 3 miles shown on the Alltrails tracker map.
PLEASE NOTE: Google Maps can take you on an extended roundabout route once off I-25. I've uploaded a picture of the most direct route.
Location coming from Denver to Co Springs: see link (I-25 to exit 161--Hwy 105/Second St- turn on to 2nd St headed west into downtown Monument; cross train tracks and left (south) on Mitchell Ave and then right (west) on Mt Herman Rd; parking lot is corner of Mt Herman Rd/Nursery Rd).
Items to bring include sunscreen, sun hat, hiking shoes, jacket, gloves, food, trekking poles (if you think you may need them), and plenty of water.
