Hero myths served as vital cultural tools to educate, inspire, and unify ancient societies by providing idealized role models, reinforcing social values, and explaining the world. They functioned as allegories for navigating life's obstacles, offering moral guidance, fostering local pride, and preserving shared history through epic narratives.

Does the hero myth still serve a purpose today? Is it an outdated myth or something that we are sorely missing. Joseph Campbell author of "The Hero's with a Thousand Faces" argues that the Hero's myth is integral to human society and the further we distance ourselves from it the poorer we become in terms of culture society and psychologically.
