Journey to the Centre of the Monolith, by Evan Morrison

In this talk, Evan will describe the process, trials and tribulations of breaking a component out of an enterprise monolith. After running into problems maintaining and improving to a system developed and hotfixed over the last 20 years, we set forth to bring the most troublesome components out. Along the way, we adopted a microservice ideology to not only improve architectural stability of the system but also to breath new life into the Monolith and improve it's scalability. The result of which we hope will be a beast that will live on for the next 20 years.
