SSP FRIDAY - Ramadan in Lakemba
Details
This is one of my favourite events to attend as a street photographer. We will wander Haldon Street in Lakemba to document the daily breaking of the fast during Ramadan. This is a happy time for families to be out with no school the following day so expect large crowds. Especially as it is near the end of Ramadan.
We will also grab something to eat from the many vendors of street food. Bring some cash just in case for the smaller vendors but card is fine in most places
Remember that sunset is 7:17pm and after that time, the queue lengths will be long at the better food places
What to bring:
Lens choice: We will be taking images around and after sunset with artificial light to assist. So, in low light, you will get best results with a fast prime lens of 28 to 50mm but a fast f2.8 zoom in the range of 24 to 70mm would also give good results.
Challenge: Capture the atmosphere of the night
Advanced Challenge: monochrome
Getting there:
Use public transport if ok with the return journey at night. If driving, parking will mean a walk to Haldon Street. Try north of the railway line or along the railway line.
If you are late, we will start at the northern end, walk across the railway bridge then continue walking down Haldon Street.
