Toyokuni Mausoleum | The Final Resting Place of Toyotomi Hideyoshi — Climb 489 Steps for Good Fortune!
During Japan’s turbulent Sengoku period, Toyotomi Hideyoshi rose from humble beginnings as a poor farmer in Owari Province. Discovered by Oda Nobunaga, he used his intelligence and strategic skill to rise through the ranks, eventually unifying Japan in 1590 and becoming one of the country’s greatest historical figures.
Visit the tomb of this legendary leader and receive a bit of his good fortune.
Be prepared for a serious climb — there are nearly 500 stone steps. It’s not recommended for those with heart conditions, but the breathtaking view from the top makes it well worth the effort.
At the summit, enjoy a picnic on Mount Amidagamine, with stunning panoramic views over Kiyomizu-dera and the city of Kyoto. Please bring your own snacks, lunch, and drinks.
