December Stroll through Descanso Gardens

Dear Afternooners,

Due to conditions of the trail at Caballero Canyon, we have postponed the December 28th hike there and are meeting at the beautiful Descanso Gardens on December 28th instead. Apologies for the inconvenience. We hope you will join us at this relaxing botanical garden where the pathways are mostly paved, wide, and easier to traverse. Details are below.

HOW STRENUOUS IS THIS? This is an easy to slightly moderate walk, with plenty of flat areas and some hills. You are welcome to venture off in your own direction and meet up with us at the end if you prefer an easier walk.

WHEN: Sunday, December 28th from 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Please allocate enough time for parking--it will be a busy day at the garden.

WHERE: Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011. Meet at the entrance in front of the ticket window. There is one entrance to the gardens, fortunately.

PARKING: There is free parking on site.

ADMISSION FEES: It costs $18 for adults, $14 for seniors and students, $8 for children 3 and up, and kids under 3 are free. **Non-members must purchase tickets in advance. You can buy them here: https://68138.blackbaudhosting.com/68138/tickets?tab=2&txobjid=5aca0ef1-c25c-477e-bd1c-703b5ae13899.**

BRING: warm clothing and water, if you wish. There is a cafe on site with meals and snacks and a few places to get drinks on site. Anyone who is interested can join us at the cafe area for a snack at the end.

HEALTH PRECAUTIONS: if you are under the weather, please stay home and get well soon. There will be many hikes to join in the new year.
