About us
We run guided walks most weekends in the Yorkshire Dales. These are usually linear walks using the bus to one place and returning from another - with time for a drink before the bus back!
These walks vary in length, difficulty and location. But are designed to be as accessible to as many people as possible using public transport.
You don’t have to be a member to come on any of our walks. But we hope if you enjoy them and continue to come you would join. The money from your membership does directly to supporting the DalesBus network we use.
We post all walks on meetup. You can join as a member and find out more about our campaigning and join at: www.friendsofdalesbus.org You do not have to reserve a space or anything like that - just say hello on the bus!
You do not need any experience walking in order to come on our walks. But you do need to have suitable gear (footwear, waterproofs etc.) as well as bring your own food + drinks. In order to ensure we arrive in time for the bus back there may be a pace to keep, if you are unsure about this we would encourage you to come on an easier walk first. Contact details for the walk leader are included in the event description if you have any questions you need to ask.

Generally using good tracks.
Out: Catch bus 24 from Harrogate (1015) arr Low Laithe (1105) (connect from bus 36 from Leeds (0910) or A2 Flyer Bradford (0815).
Return: 24 bus leaving from Pateley Bridge (1630) arr Harrogate at (1722). Connections in Harrogate for Leeds using the 36 (1730) or A2 Flyer (1755) back towards Bradford.

Grassington National Park Centre, Hebden Rd, Grassington, Skipton BD23 5LB, Grassington, GBA great walk, mostly on tracks avoiding mud with fabulous views of Linton Falls and village, Swindon Quarry, the “Cracoe Ridge”, Pendle Hill and Flasby Fell. The finish is around 16.10 with plenty of time to socialize at the Olde Swan.

Out: Catch bus 874 Leeds City Bus Station (0910) Headingley Opp Shopping Centre (0925) Otley Bus Station (0950) Ilkley Bus Station (1015/1020), alighting at Grassington (1106). OR catch bus 864 from Bradford (0925) Shipley Market Place (0940) Ilkley Bus Station (1015/1020) changing to the 874.
Return is via the 864 from Gargrave Square (1701) Ilkley Bus Station (1750) changing to the 874 for Otley and Leeds or staying on the 864 for Shipley and Bradford.
