Sierras/Truckee SNOW OR NO SNOW, WE STILL GO!!!! 4th Annual December Adventure
Details
Donner Memorial State Park, Emerald Bay State Park, Mt. Rose, Northstar...the opportunities are there...we just need to see how much snow we have, and go from there!๐
UP TO 5 AMAZING DAYS NEAR TAHOE AND TRUCKEE!!
The Snow or No Snow event is for people who are flexible (not as in yoga, but as in how they spend their time); for people who can adjust to changes of plans; for people who like to be around people and try new things. Why? Because none of us have any idea at this point what the weather will be and therefore what outdoor activities will be possible. At this point, having enough snow to ski appears unlikely, but is not impossible of course. The good news: we have a long list of potential activities: ski, snowshoe, hike, mountain bike, road bike, complete your holiday shopping in downtown Truckee or at the amazing Ace Hardware down the hill from the Lodge -- your choice.
You can also choose when you want to arrive and when you want to leave. You can arrive as early as Friday night (a crockpot of hot vegan chili plus sides will be available for supper at the Lodge), and you can leave as late as Wednesday morning at 9:00 am. We know for certain the event will be a "GO" from late afternoon Friday through late afternoon Sunday. If enough people prefer to come Sunday through Wed., those days will be a GO also. Lots of uncertainty, right? But one thing is assured: We will enjoy the company of great people and we will have FUN!
We will be staying at the
Santa Rosa Ski Club Lodge
11377 Valley Road
Truckee, CA 96161
Cost? Guests $40 per night; Ski Club Members in Process $30 per night; Ski Club Members $10 per night. Please bring a check that you will make out to the Santa Rosa Ski Club for your accommodations.
Or, if you prefer, you can make your own lodging arrangements elsewhere. If you do, you are welcome to have your meals at the Lodge.
Cost for meals will be a $25/day for breakfast, a sack lunch you prepare yourself, and dinner. The organizers will plan the meals and buy the necessary groceries. Everyone participates in meal prep and cleanup. Please bring cash or plan to use Venmo to reimburse the organizers who buy the groceries. Coffee and tea are provided at the Lodge. You are responsible for your own beverages.
To simplify logistics, assume all group activities will leave from the Lodge at 8:00 am daily.
All who who would like to come, please RSVP via Meetup. Wanderers who are Ski Club Members or in the Ski Club membership process, please also register in the Events section on the Ski Club website at santarosaskiclub.org.
Interested? In addition to marking Attend for the event, I need you to help your organizers by sending a message to Carol Hawkins (407-448-2674; carolhawkins24@gmail.com) with the answers to these questions:
1. Your name (and any others in your party if you'd like to bring a guest). 2. Your email address and cell #)
3. Arrival date and time

5 Staying at the Lodge?
6. Meals at the Lodge?
7. Food restrictions (Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Dairy Free, No Restrictions)
8. Preferred activities (ski, snowshoe, hike, mountain bike, road bike, shopping). More than one answer is helpful, of course)
9. Want to carpool? (Please post a note in comments if you do, including leave and return dates preferred)
Whether the weather is a Sierras Fall or an early Winter Wonderland, we are sure to have a great time.
