It's been quite a while since the Trailblazers have hiked this trail! It's great to hike here after the rain since the trail isn't muddy. There are a few puddles along the way but it's easy to work around them.

The first few miles are a steady uphill till we reach the Hummingbird trail bench. From there the trail works its way gradually uphill with stunning views towards both the ocean and the mountains (snowy at the top). We'll work out way to the Chumash trail turnoff, close to 8 miles, 1700 ft but it's easy to turn around at any point since the hike is out and back with no turns. Some hikers may choose to go a farther. It may be a bit chilly when we start but it warms up, so best to wear layers.

The trailhead is off the Rock Peak/Santa Susanna Pass Exit off the 118 in Simi. After exiting, the trailhead is on the north side of the overpass, but most of the parking spots there will probably be taken. Park on the south side of the overpass along Santa Susanna Pass Road and walk across the overpass.
