⛰️ Neue Alplhütte Winter Hike via Zimmerbergklamm & Telfs Christmas Market 🎄

Hello everyone!

This Sunday, get ready for a beautiful winter climb through Zimmerbergklamm ❄️🌲, a narrow gorge that leads us all the way up to one of the absolute culinary gems of the region: Neue Alplhütte 🍽️✨
After lunch we descend back to Telfs and finish at the very special Christmas Market 🎄🕯️ for a warm drink and some festive atmosphere before heading home.

### 🥾 Difficulty & Conditions (Read Carefully!)

This is a medium hike, but on the upper end of medium due to:

• Over 14 km total distance
• ~900 m elevation gain
• Cold temperatures and possible icy/slippery sections
• A steady pace with limited break time

👉 This hike is not suitable for beginners, unfit hikers, or anyone unsure about their endurance.
We have a tight schedule (lunch at the hut + Christmas market + last bus), so we cannot make extended stops or slow down the entire group.
Participants must be:

• Fit enough to hike 2 hours uphill without long breaks
• Sure-footed on potentially icy or snowy terrain
• Able to keep pace with the group
• Comfortable descending efficiently after lunch

If you are not used to sustained ascents or longer winter hikes, please skip this one. Another event will fit you better. Safety and group flow come first.

### 🌦 Weather

Mild weather is expected for Sunday with no rain forecast, sunny and blue skies. However, mornings can be quite cold, so it might feel chilly at the start.

### 🕗 Schedule / Itinerary

• 08:15 – Meet at Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof
  08:22 – Train (REX1) to Telfs-Pfaffenhofen
• 08:40 – Arrival, then walk through Telfs to reach the gorge trail start
• Hike through Zimmerbergklamm: a gorge with stream, footbridges and forest paths
• Around 12:00 – Arrive at Neue Alplhütte (≈ 1,500 m)
• After lunch — descend back toward Telfs
• From ~15:00 — Visit the unique Christmas market in Telfs with street food & drinks🎄
• 16:48 – Last bus option back to Innsbruck (bus from Telfs Widumanger → approx. 17:39 arrival) Alternatively there is a 15:48 bus and several trains farther away

### 🍲 Neue Alplhütte & Hut Lunch

Neue Alplhütte sits at ~1,500 m on the slopes of the Mieminger Mountains, surrounded by forest and mountain peaks.
Expect warm, cozy alpine-hut atmosphere: wood interior, typical Tyrolean dishes, good soups and deserts.

• ⚠️Because the hut is a bit remote and winter season, capacity may be limited! We can't guarantee a place for everyone! Bring snacks/backup food just in case.

### ✅ Preparedness Checklist

• Bring cash 💵 (card payments might not be possible at the hut)
• Protect yourself from the sun 🌞 (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)
• Pack plenty of water and some snacks or a sandwich
• Dress in layers and include rain protection 🌦️
• Wear sturdy hiking boots 👢
• Hiking sticks recommended for slippery or long downhill sections
• Dogs are welcome 🐶, just remember water and snacks for them too
