What we’re about
Adventurers looking for trail buddies, unite! Trail Buddies was founded in 2018 and is a community of outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy the trails with other like-minded individuals. Our events appeal to thru-hikers, day-hikers and cyclists and we’re always eager to meet new folks, learn of new adventures and hear those campfire stories. If you’re searching for a fun and active outdoor group, look no further.
Adventure, fun, passion, motivation, perseverance, and community is what we’re all about. We believe the outdoors is therapeutic for the mind, body and soul, and everyone should have an opportunity to benefit from it, so we host a variety of events from beginner to advanced that range from just a few hours to multiple nights in an effort to offer something for everyone. Some of our trips will be family and pet friendly while others will be geared towards pushing our limits for grander, future adventures like the AT, CDT, PCT, and NCT.
With multiple organizers, we’re posting more events than ever, and continuing to increase our time outside. As we set our sights on this year and beyond, we’re excited about all the new adventures out there waiting for us.
Check out our new campsite, and review our membership agreement and camp rules.

Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Hiking - Rachel Carson (Experienced) - 18 MilesRachel Carson - Bull Creek, Tarentum, PA
Now that we've mostly gotten over our Rachel fatigue from the challenge nearly three months ago, we're ready for another rendezvous! This hike will cover the most difficult section of the trail by traversing two of the steepest hills (Log Cabin and Crawford Run). This will be a point to point hike and we'll meet at the Bull Creek trailhead and shuttle in as few vehicles as possible to the start of the hike at Emmerling Park.
The trail could be muddy in spots and stream crossings might be high if the rainy weather continues through the end of summer. Trekking poles are recommended, in addition to packing plenty of water and snacks to sustain yourself throughout the day. I plan to get a bite to eat afterwards at Rey Azteca or Denny's in New Kensington.

To help us better manage activities at camp, we have an additional sign up sheet which must be filled out prior to attending. This event coincides with our weekend ride on the GAP, and you may register for one or both events.
Why pay for a campsite when you can lodge with us for free? Come surround yourself in nature and enjoy the beautiful vegetation and peaceful sounds of local wildlife at our relaxing campground!

- Biking - Ride the GAP (Experienced) - 64 MilesGAP - Meyersdale Trailhead, Meyersdale, PA
We had such an enjoyable ride on this segment several weeks ago and I'd like to do it again. This event will coincide with a camping event at our campground near Mt. Davis, so be sure to check that out as well if you’d like to get the full Trail Buddies experience and the best we have to offer.
This will be an out and back ride from Meyersdale PA to Cumberland MD, then returning to Meyersdale. We’ll be passing by popular attractions during our ride such as the Eastern Continental Divide, the Big Savage Tunnel, and the Mason Dixon Line. We’ll stop for a relaxing lunch in Cumberland at the Baltimore St. Grill before returning to Meyersdale. Speed/pace will not be the primary objective of this ride. This event will either conclude once we return to the parking area or continue on to our campground if you’d like to join us for extended quality tramily time.

- Hiking - North Park Morning (Intermediate) - 9 MilesNorth Park - Ambridge Pavilion, Wexford, PA
This is the morning (1st of 2) North Park hikes. Feel free to sign up for both if you’re up for hiking 18 miles.
Sometimes we like to hit the trails hard, but other times we like to slow it down and enjoy a casual stroll in the park. This event is more about getting outside and enjoying the camaraderie amongst Trail Buddies as opposed to accruing cold hard miles. It’s also a great opportunity if you’re looking to become more physically active and/or thinking about getting yourself into the wonderful world of hiking and backpacking and would like to bounce questions off an experienced backpacker.
Half of our hike will be on pavement, while the other half will be on an easy section of the Rachel Carson Trail. There won’t be any stream crossings but the Rachel Carson could be muddy in spots, so please dress appropriately.
