Volunteer at Sankofa Community Orchard
Sankofa Community Orchard, 309 Covington Rd, Richmond, VA, USJoin us for a hands-on volunteer day at Sankofa Community Orchard, a five-acre food justice and climate resiliency demonstration space. This orchard is dedicated to promoting holistic health, wellness, and social change through community food growing and sustainable land practices.
We will help with planting vegetables, trees, and fruiting shrubs. As the space continues to grow, you may also help establish new garden beds, tend to the pollinator garden, weed and replant perennial flowers, or support seasonal projects like compost bin building, trellis systems, and installing low tunnels or greenhouses to extend the growing season.
No experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity to get outside, learn about sustainable food systems, support food justice efforts, and contribute to a meaningful community project. Just bring comfortable clothes you do not mind getting dirty and a willingness to help.
This Volunteer Event is Free and Open to Everyone! Both members and non-members are welcome to join. Space is limited, so please claim your free ticket through the Trying to Adult RVA website to secure your spot. RSVPing elsewhere does not guarantee your place.
