Nyora to Korumburra - 21km (carpool back to Nyora).
I plan to host a series of camping weekends with the intention of walking the Great Southern Rail Trail ( https://www.gsrt.com.au/ ).
There are three Meetup Events for this weekend:
Camp - Fri 27Mar26 / Sat 28Mar26
Saturday - 28Feb26 - Nyora to Korumburra - 21km
Sunday - 01Mar26 - Leongatha to Korumburra - 15km
This weekend is an opportunity to pick and choose based on what suits you. Feel free to join us for some or all of the weekend.

### Friday 27 Feb 2026
From 6:00pm – Set up camp at Korumburra Tourist Park A relaxed evening to settle in, meet others, and enjoy the fresh country air.
### Saturday 28 Feb 2026 - 21km
- 9:30am – campers will carpool to Nyora
- 10:00am – Walk Nyora → Korumburra (21 km)
### 🌄 Nyora → Korumburra (Hike Overview)
This section of the Great Southern Rail Trail winds through rolling green hills, peaceful farmland, and quiet pockets of bush. Early in the walk you’ll pass Hilda Falls, a small but charming cascade tucked into the landscape. The trail offers wide country views, gentle gradients, and a calm, open atmosphere. It’s a beautiful, spacious walk perfect for relaxed conversation and soaking up South Gippsland’s scenery.
- After the walk, carpool back to Nyora to collect vehicles.
- evening – Second night of camping at Korumburra
### Sunday 1 Mar 2026 - 15km
- 9:30am – campers will carpool to Leongatha
- 10:00am – Walk Leongatha → Korumburra (15 km)
### 🌾 Leongatha → Korumburra (Hike Overview)
This walk begins in open farmland on the outskirts of Leongatha, with long views across soft, undulating hills. The trail moves through quiet valleys, past grazing paddocks and old farm buildings, before gradually transitioning into shaded bushland as you approach Korumburra. It’s a gentle, restorative stretch of the rail trail featuring wide skies, easy walking,
- carpool back to Leongatha afterward to collect vehicles.
You are welcome to take part in the whole camp and walk weekend or any part of it (e.g. turn up for just the day walks). Whatever fits your schedule and energy is completely fine.

The Great Southern Rail Trail is a gentle, scenic pathway that winds through South Gippsland’s rolling green hills, quiet farmland, and small country towns. With wide‑open views, peaceful valleys, and an easy walking surface, it’s a beautiful trail to explore at a relaxed pace and enjoy the calm, open landscapes of the region.
# ⛺ Camping Details
If you’d like to camp but don’t have gear, I can lend tents, inflatable mattresses, sleeping bags, and other basics. Just send me a message to chat about what you need.

RSVP's - as a courtesy to the other attendees, if you have RSVP'd going but are not able to attend, please update your RSVP to not going.
# 🎒 Equipment (What to Bring)
- Water (At least 3L is recommended)
- Snacks/food
- Hat & sunscreen
- Wet weather gear
- Comfortable walking shoes (the rail trail is firm—running/walking shoes work better than boots)
- Personal items for camping if staying overnight
