Join us for a long, rewarding circuit through Bunyip State Park, climbing from the cool forest around Mortimer Picnic Ground to the exposed granite of Four Brothers Rocks. This loop has a bit of everything: quiet gullies, open ridgelines, a summit viewpoint, and one of the most striking rock formations in the region.

You’ll pass through tall eucalypt forest with soft moss underfoot, cross small boardwalks and creek platforms where the air cools and the light softens, and move into open woodland where Eastern Grey Kangaroos often graze on the grassy slopes. Birdlife is constant: kookaburras, rosellas, currawongs, and the occasional wedge‑tailed eagle circling above the ridgeline.
As the track climbs, the forest begins to thin and the land opens into higher, drier country. Near the Windy Point summit area, the trees spread out and filtered views appear between the trunks — long sightlines across the surrounding hills and the quiet expanse of Bunyip State Park.
Further along the ridge, the landscape becomes broader and sun‑lit, with pale silvertop ash lining the track and the scent of dry forest replacing the cool gully air with glimpses of distant ranges through the trees.

### 🪨 Four Brothers Rocks

The highlight of the circuit:

  • massive granite domes rising above the forest
  • weather‑shaped surfaces and warm stone
  • wide views across Bunyip State Park
  • a sense of standing above the canopy

The return journey continues through quiet, open forest where the colours shift to silvers and greys, and the sense of remoteness deepens. Throughout the loop, expect a blend of wildlife, changing forest types, and those subtle, atmospheric details that make Bunyip State Park feel both rugged and alive.
