DESCRIPTION:
Momentum Dance Collective presents You have this day, and maybe another a new, evening-length dance performance running February 27–March 1.
Through contemporary movement and elemental design, the work follows the arc of a single day, from dawn to dusk and back to dawn, exploring the personal, communal, and sometimes radical acts of care in a culture shaped by fast-paced individualism. The performance invites audiences to reflect on cycles of care, seasons of life, and the healing passage of time.
Created collaboratively by Momentum Dance Collective’s choreographers and dancers, the evening weaves together distinct choreographic voices that explore care in its many forms: tenderness and humor, exhaustion and obligation, friendship and vulnerability, generational roles, and the desire to break long-held patterns.
You have this day, and maybe another, a line from poet Mary Oliver, reflects the spirit of the work itself. Rooted in attention to the present moment, the performance creates space for audiences to see themselves reflected onstage. By centering the ordinary moments that shape a day, a season, a relationship, or even a life, the work asks a quiet but essential question: Given the time you have today, and whatever remains, what does caring mean to you and how do you show it? In a culture that often equates self-reliance with strength and urgency with progress, You have this day, and maybe another gently digs deeper, challenging the stereotypes and assumptions embedded in our day-to-day lives.
