London: An Oxleas Wood Winter Ramble
Details
Join Hannah, Rob and London Wildish Club for our first walk of 2026.
If you wish to attend, you can find out more about Wildish Club here - with options to join for free or to become a supporter.
We’ll start at Falconwood Station and thread our way through some of South East London’s lesser-known green spaces and woodland paths, taking in Oxleas Wood and Severndroog Castle along the way — a surreal Gothic hilltop tower that feels wonderfully out of place and very fitting for a winter wander.
We’ll finish near Maryon Wilson Park, with the chance to say hello to the goats and pigs at the animal enclosure and hopefully even spot some of the resident deer, before ending at Charlton Station. There will be an optional pub stop afterwards for anyone who fancies warming up together.
This is a flatter, steady-paced walk of around 9.6 km — more of a gentle winter ramble than a big hike. Expect some mud, crisp air, friendly people, and pauses for seasonal noticing along the way. We’re starting a little earlier than usual to make the most of the daylight.
Any questions, just give us a shout.
