Come with us to celebrate the opening of Glen Brook elevated walkway. A 250-metre stretch of corten steel and reclaimed spotted gum, is now open in John Forrest National Park.

With cooler temperatures between 12 to 14°C for the walk and a slight possibility of light showers come prepared with an umbrella and jumper.

This walk is a gift as it keeps on giving and will never disappoint. We start at the historic Swan View railway platform. A short walk and we go through the old Swan View railway tunnel (340m long) and then down to Rocky Pool. Up the hill to Eagle View Lookout and we’ll stop to catch our breath as we take in the vista. Down into the valley through the forest to the National Park Falls and keeping along the picturesque north bank of Jane Brook we do a slight detour beside the many pools as we head to the John Forrest Tavern (ruins) and visit the Glen Brook Walkway before we make our way to the highest point of our walk at Hovea Falls. Turn back and follow the very easy Railway Reserve Heritage Trail gently downhill and then back to our cars.
There are no national park entry fees payable for this walk.
Late morning coffee at Pa's Patisserie and Café. Great coffee, yummy food and friendly staff.
Where: The lower car park near the old Swan View Station (Click on map for the exact meeting point)
Parking: Plenty of parking near the pin drop.
Distance: 12.2+ km, 289 m Elevation Gain & about 3hrs walking. I think the walkway will add an extra 750m to our hike.
Difficulty: Some slightly steep sections in the beginning to make it more interesting but the walk back is a doddle. It would be classified as moderately difficult intended for regular walkers. Please only come if you're hiking fit.
What to bring: A headlight for the tunnel, water, good hiking shoes, hat, umbrella/spray jacket (poles if you want)
Toilets: Toilets and water at the JF Tavern ruins (8.5km mark).
Café after the walk: Join us for a coffee, a bite to eat and chat at Pa's Patisserie and Café, 2km due west along Morrison Rd. They are open on Saturday.
All trails maps: Check out our intended route on this link. John Forrest NP loop
