Details

This hike is a 4 hour, 16 km section of the Bibbulmun Track starting at the Kalamunda Terminus and finishing at the Mundaring Weir Hotel.
We will meet at the Mundaring Weir Hotel promptly at 7:30am, parking our cars across the road from the pub. We will then carpool in a convoy of cars to the Kalamunda Terminus. Please note if you’re not at the pub at 7:30 you won’t get a lift to the start.
The walk goes through a picturesque part of the Darling Range with beautiful views, stunning forest and abundant wildlife to spot. We walk through Jorgensen Park, past the old Camel Farm and then near Hewitt’s Hill overnight campsite. We skirt around some other significant tracks, past sites and the Golden View Lookout on our journey. We cross the weir and make our way through the gardens up to the pub.
At the end of the walk we will have lunch at the Mundaring Weir Hotel.
Most will make their own way home from the Mundaring Weir Hotel and a few cars will take the convoy drivers back to Kalamunda to pick up their cars. Logistics will be calculated once the number of participants are finalised.
Where
Meet at the Mundaring Weir Hotel (See map for meeting point)
Parking
Plenty of parking near the pin drop.
Distance
16 km with an elevation of 429m (phew!)
Difficulty
The most difficult part of this section of the Bibbulmun Track is at the start. Once we reach the Camel Farm we are in the flatter part of the hills which start to open up and most of it is then downhill to the weir. It is now a fairly easy walk and only a few moderate, gravelly sections to be careful on. However you must be a regular walker and prepared to handle a few hills and walk at a good pace as we need to make lunch before noon. 🍞☕️
What to bring
Plenty of water, good hiking shoes, hat & sunscreen (poles if you want)
Toilets
Near the start, Camel Farm, Hewitt’s Hill and at the pub/weir (or in the bush 😆).
Lunch after the walk
Given we are expecting to take about 4 hours it would be nice if we can sit together and share a lunch at the pub. See link to their menu below including the seniors menu.

Fun fact: When completed in 1902 Mundaring Dam Wall was claimed to be the highest overflow dam in the world.
There is a lot of history in those hills, here’s a few links to whet your appetite.
