About us
Most of us spend a large part of everyday life speaking from within a role — colleague, partner, mother, daughter, professional, friend — and following the social scripts that come with it.
WomenSpeak offers a space where women can step outside those roles for a while, speak openly about what is actually going on in their lives, and make sense of their experience in conversation with other women.
There is no set theme or programme. The content comes from the women who are there.
Conversations may include work, relationships, family, health, change, ageing, hormones, friendship, ambition, loss, identity, a difficult decision, a question, or simply something that has been taking up space in your mind.
You can speak about what is present for you, listen to other women doing the same, reflect, share experiences and hear how others make sense of their own lives.
WomenSpeak is not about finding the right answer by the end of the session. Sometimes conversation helps something become clearer. Sometimes another woman’s experience offers a different perspective. Sometimes the value is simply having had the space to say something out loud and feel heard.
Each session begins with a short check-in. From there, the conversation follows what the women present bring. The facilitator holds the structure, time and ground rules while also participating as part of the group. We close with a short check-out.
WomenSpeak is non-hierarchical, confidential and respectful.
It is not psychotherapy, counselling or treatment. It can sit alongside therapy or other professional support, but does not replace them when they are needed.
WomenSpeak meets online once a month and is free to attend.
Voluntary donations are welcome.
WomenSpeak is part of the wider Speak family, alongside MenSpeak and PeopleSpeak.

Ground rules
Confidentiality - what is shared here stays here
We are free to speak outside the group about our own experience of WomenSpeak, but we do not repeat another woman’s story or identifying details.
We do not record, photograph or take screenshots of the session.
Listen to understand and connect
We give each other space to speak and listen without interrupting, debating or judging another woman’s experience.
Speak from your own experience
We speak from what we have lived, felt or noticed rather than telling another woman what her experience means.
No advice or fixing
When someone shares something difficult, we listen without trying to solve it or tell her what she should do.
We leave space for her to find her own way through what she is saying.
You can always pass
Participation is an invitation, never an obligation.
We are free not to answer, not to speak about something, or simply to pass.
Stay with what is present
There is no predetermined programme or theme.
We begin with what the women present bring and allow the conversation to develop from there.
There is room for difficult feelings
There is space for sadness, anger, fear, uncertainty, vulnerability and whatever else is present.
We do not have to hide difficult feelings or rush to make them disappear. Sometimes the group can simply stay with what is there and give it space to be spoken.
Share the space
We pay attention to how much space we take and leave space for other voices.
Be fully present
We join from somewhere reasonably private and give the conversation our undivided attention.

PeopleSpeak - Inclusive Online Sharing Group
·OnlineOnlineAllGendersSpeak is an all inclusive online sharing group, open to everyone!
This group is hosted in conjunction with MenSpeak & WomenSpeak.
TIME: 2pm start, ends 3pm. Please join before 2pm particularly if it's your first group, room closes at 2:02.
It is a space to sit together, share what is going on in our lives in a non-judgemental setting.
Do you sometimes lack purpose, passion, a sense of belonging?
Would you like to be in a confidential space where you can discuss any aspect of your life, including your relationships, work, sense of safety, health and hormones.
Join our confidential, inclusive and reflective group.
Our Mixed Gender Online Sharing group welcomes all people, where we can simply sit together in a safe space to share what's going on in our lives, listening and learning from one another's experiences, noticing, acknowledging and celebrating what's good, gaining inspiration to change what's not, and simply accepting 'what is'.
We can support one another to become more authentic, without telling each other what to do or how to be. There is no pressure and it’s fine to say "Pass” when it’s your turn to speak.
We are respectful, accepting & accountable and we want more out of life.
We explore who we are, who we no longer need to be, and how we can lead more meaningful and fulfilled lives.GROUND RULES:
1: CONFIDENTIALITY
What is said in our group stays in our group and we take this very seriously.
We request that participants keep their video on throughout and that there is no recording, screenshotting, or sharing any part of the discussions outside the group.
Please find a private uninterrupted space and use headphones if necessary.
2: RESPECT
Respect the space when others talk and listen. Together we create a safe, non-judgemental, mutually respectful, inclusive space, which encourages a sense of belonging.
3: TAKE PART
Authentically take part with words and in silence. It is better to say ‘pass’, for whatever reason, instead of avoiding what you might be thinking, feeling or experiencing.
4: BE HONEST
Be honest with yourself and the group by speaking and listening with integrity. That way you can own your feelings and work them through.
5: OWN WHAT YOU SAY
Use ‘I’ or ‘my’ statements, rather than ‘you’, ‘one’, or ‘we’. Keeping the conversation in the ‘I’ or ‘my’ is a more authentic position to take and helps us to take responsibility for what we are thinking or feeling.
6: STAY IN THE PRESENT
Be clear about what is true right now, what was true of the past, and what you don’t yet know about the future. Words like ‘always’, ‘never’ and ‘keeps on’ limit present and future opportunities to past outcomes, whereas ‘sometimes’ and ‘used to’ make space for change.
Staying present when people are speaking and listening to what they say is a show of respect. If for whatever reason staying in the moment is difficult, notice what is pulling you away or distracting you, perhaps naming it out loud might help clear the way to come back to the group.
7: DON'T BULLY
Our group boundaries create safe, non-hierarchical, inclusive spaces and we practise relating with mutual understanding. We do not tolerate discriminatory, offensive, aggressive, or passive-aggressive behaviour towards anyone.
Questioning, challenging, or disagreeing is welcome, however we ask for this to be done with consideration, tolerance, forgiveness, and respect for one another.
8: DON'T DRAMATISE
Our group gives the person speaking space to explore what they want to say without others jumping in, judging, or commenting. Together we enable people speaking to feel heard, witnessed, and validated, allowing people to access the feelings underneath their experience.
If something someone says brings something up for you, bring it to the group in a way that doesn’t ‘hijack’ another person’s story or account or turn what they say into a ‘drama’.
9: EXPERIMENT WITH WHO YOU ARE
Our group offers an opportunity to explore new ways of interacting with people and the world around us in a judgement free zone and confidential space. Discovering parts of ourselves we didn’t know existed by taking off our masks, finding our voice, and being seen and heard by others, can feel vulnerable, but it can also be liberating and empowering.
Whilst experimenting with who you are, please respect personal and group boundaries and remember it’s fine to say ‘pass’ at any time.
10: NAME WHAT'S TRIGGERED
One person’s story is another person’s reaction, and when we notice ourselves becoming reactive or experiencing strong emotions, we encourage people to name what’s happening, talk it through, and let it pass. Carrying it home and allowing it to get a hold of you after the group will feed it and keep it alive.
In our group, we name it; we don’t shame it or blame it. Then we live beyond it.
11: LIVE BEYOND THE RULES
Playing small to be ‘safe’ or ‘liked’ may keep you small and stuck. Exploring the edge of your comfort zone may bring challenges that could help you grow. Live beyond your fears, fantasies and old restrictions to express a more authentic you in daily life.
Stretch your comfort zone, discover hidden parts of yourself, get to know your inner voice, share your wisdom, gain insights, feel what fits, and try on new boots!
12: FOCUS OVER FAFFING
Be present and stay connected with yourself and others without reading, scrolling, multi-tasking, or faffing. Switch off message alerts and keep distractions at bay. Take part from a private, quiet, well-lit room, so we can hear, see and connect with one another.
Please let the facilitator know about any health or disability needs, tech difficulties, or anything else that may affect your ability to focus during the group, and we will do our best to make reasonable adjustments. This is not a therapy group, a political group, a spiritual group, nor an online dating group. It is not a group for or against people of any race, social class, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, ethnicity, nationality, or religion.
It is not a group of anything apart from whatever the people present make it.
Such boundaries are designed to keep our groups inclusive, welcoming to all, and free from expectation and ulterior motives.Disclaimer: Participation is entirely voluntary, and each participant is responsible for their own safety and well-being. If you are in any doubt about whether this group is suitable for you, please seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional. These groups are not a replacement for professional support, including from your GP, therapist, counsellor, or other qualified healthcare professional.
