Lo que hacemos
Sivakami Ashley is Gestalt psychotherapist in private practice in the Eixample, Barcelona working with adults 16+ and children 2-6 years old.
“Nature and Meditation” is for people interested in enjoying nature in a meditative way, while also enjoying the company of others. When we are in the company of people who are mindful and fully present in nature, our own mindfulness and awareness of the present moment is amplified, in the same way that when we meditate with a group, we often find it easier to concentrate. Sometimes, when we walk in a group, our desire to engage in interesting conversations distracts us from the natural wonders that surround us. We invite you to share with us our practice of walking meditation in the tradition of the Zen Mater “Thich Nhat Hanh.” We will lead 3-4 hour hikes, with an easy-intermediate level of difficulty, including a variety of mindfulness practices to help us deepen our awareness of our body and of our surroundings. As a result, we return home with a relaxed mind, peaceful and happy, and with new friends who share our appreciation of silence and nature.
Sivakami Ashley lived in the countryside (in Canada and in the United States), until she came to live in Barcelona in 2006. She grew up in the Sivananda Ashrams in North America, where the daily practice includes meditation twice a day. When she returns to nature she feels whole and deeply happy. For this reason, every summer she enjoys long treks with her mother, with whom she shares her love for nature. In 2003, her mother, Sr. Dao Nghiem, ordained as a nun with the Plum Village community of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. It was during these long walks with her mother that Sivakami discovered the joy of walking in silence, while also being in the company of another person. Sivakami is a licensed Gestalt psychotherapist, cootrainer in mindfulness with Escuelas Despiertas where she teaches the practice of mindfulness applied to education. She is a certified yoga teacher and has also trained in EMDR and has interned for 200h in the child psychology outpatient department at San Juan de Dios Hospital.
