Right now the most vulnerable individuals are being exploited on a massive scale and it will only get worse if we don’t take action now. But can we as ordinary people really make a difference to help them? The answer is YES.
In this workshop, we’ll share the fundamental DNA of DxE - our story, strategy, structure, and culture - and give you tools and information you need to join our network and take action for animals. Get inspired by past social movements, dive into our plan to enact an Animal Bill of Rights, empower yourself to push your boundaries, and meet like-minded people.
Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a veteran activist or new to animal rights. If you're interested in becoming a chapter member, this workshop is required. Sign up to be a chapter member at dxe.io/apply.

- Meetup: Winning by Losing... and Then Winning2414 Sixth Street Berkeley, CA 94710, Berkeley, CA
Animals suffer not just from weak laws but from their near-total invisibility to the legal system. At this Meetup Christopher Berry, the Executive Director of the Nonhuman Rights Project, will explain how the Nonhuman Rights Project is working to secure legal rights for animals through strategic litigation, drawing parallels to other movements that overcame initial judicial resistance through persistence and education.
He'll discuss how past cases for nonhuman rights—despite being considered "losses"—have already set important groundbreaking precedent while laying the groundwork for tomorrow's breakthroughs.Where: Berkeley Animal Rights Center West (2414 6th St, Berkeley)

If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail sfbay@directactioneverywhere.com - Double Home Demo & Social5194 Hessel Rd, Sebastopol, CA 95472-6362, United States, Sebastopol, CA
Join us for a double home demonstration, beginning at the residence of Scott Fitzpatrick, who oversees Perdue’s live chicken operations. Scott has declined to address the serious abuse happening under his supervision and has refused to sever ties with Perdue. Then we will go to Jason Arnold's home, Director of Operations at Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry. Jason has also refused to engage with us regarding the criminal animal cruelty taking place inside the Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse and has similarly failed to cut ties with Perdue.
Please join us in calling on Jason Arnold and Scott Fitzpatrick to cut ties with Perdue as we nonviolently exercise our first amendment right to free speech while we still have it. Afterwards many of us will go to Amy’s Drive Through to grab a bite, paid for by DxE SF Bay Area. Thanks!

- Animal Sanctuary Workday2785 Franklin Canyon Rd, Martinez, CA
Want to hang out with pigs, goats, and cows and make a real difference?
Spend the day helping a local animal sanctuary with the kind of hands-on care that keeps them going—mucking stalls, shoveling straw, hauling mulch, and yes, giving belly rubs to pigs and kisses to curious goats. It’s a beautiful, dirty, fulfilling day where you’ll build real bonds with rescued animals and the people who care for them. This isn’t just a visit—it’s a workday, and the sanctuaries are counting on us to show up ready to help. But don’t worry—there’s a job for every ability level, from light tasks to more physical ones. Just wear clothes you can get messy (jeans are best!), bring a water bottle, and show up at 10am sharp in the One Living Sanctuary driveway for our morning task briefing.
Please respect the animals' boundaries—some love cuddles, others need space. And to keep things safe and manageable, we ask that no children under 10 attend.
Snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own food too. We’ll have gloves and hand sanitizer, though you’re welcome to bring your own gear. The weather can shift fast, so wear layers, and drive slowly down the long driveway—animals may be nearby.
Need a ride or can offer one? Email Carla at carla@dxe.io to coordinate carpools.Whether you come for the chores, the company, or the cow cuddles—this is a day you won’t forget. Let’s get our boots muddy for a cause that matters.
We recommend wearing layers as it can be cold early in the morning but will most likely get extremely hot by mid-day. If you have work gloves, please bring them but we will have extra if needed as well as hand sanitizer.
Also, it is mandatory to sign this volunteer waiver!
