Hi everyone!

For the month of September we will be running free Yoga Nidra and Dru Yoga classes. Sonia Santangelo, our teacher, is in Barcelona for the month of September and wants to offer the city of Barcelona these healing, relaxing yoga classes while she visits this amazing city. The classes are perfect for people with anxiety, depression or who have experienced trauma. Classes will be small so make sure you sign up. Sonia takes everyones physical condition into consideration, this is a soft, slow yoga class with a focus on relaxation, mindfullness and breathing.

Thanks to the powerful affect yoga had on her own healing journey for both physical and emotional trauma, Sonia has become passionate about offering students the experience of accessible, transformative and restorative yoga.

Sonia is trained in Hatha Yoga, Dru Yoga, iRest and Yoga Nidra, and has attended training in Trauma Sensitive Yoga, TRE, Chair Yoga, with ASCA and with Leslie Kaminoff.

Sonia's experience extends far past the classroom, attending conferences on Yoga therapy specialising in trauma and completing many hours of self-study including online lectures with Diane Poole Heller and Ruth Buczynski, both specialist in the field of trauma, while reading extensively the works of Yoga specialists such as Bessel van der Kolk, Pat Ogden, David Emerson, Peter Levine.

Thanks to this wide array of knowledge and experience, she teaches in a style where those who have experienced trauma will always feel safe and supported.

Sonia’s values seek to understand, connect and transform and it begins with safe alignment and mindfulness moving through the poses. The intention behind the practice is to always empower the student by providing a safe space for the student to trust and move from their body’s own innate intelligence.

Her studio located in the foothills of Mount Macedon is Fuchsia Yoga and Wellness and acknowledges the land there of the Wurundjeri of the Kulin Nation for they hold the stories, culture and lore. We pay respect to their elders past and present.

--- Sonia's Journey to Dru Yoga and Yoga Nidra ---

When Sonia discovered Dru she was still unable to walk unaided, had PTS, was in a lot of pain and could not get up and down off the floor without assistance. She felt broken physically, emotionally and mentally. Nonetheless her teacher met her where she was, which meant her teachings were inclusive, adapted, modified but also energising.

Sonia works towards emulating these principles in her own practice.

--- What can you expect from a Dru yoga class? ---

The movements are flowing, breathe and movement are connected, we practice Energy block releases and work with affirmations and visualisations. Most of all it is accessible.

Currently she mostly teaches a small, intimate group of people from her little home studio but is in the process of putting the final touches to her larger studio on the property.
