First Buenos Aires Hacks/Hackers Meetup!

Este grupo forma parte de una organización en crecimiento que tuvo su primer encuentro en San Francisco en noviembre de 2009 y ahora tiene miles de miembros en todo el mundo. Hacks/Hackers tiene afiliados que ya celebraron encuentros en Chicago y Washington DC, Austin, Atlanta, Boston, Birmingham, Londres, Los Ángeles, México D.F. y algunos países africanos, entre otros.

Sólo Nueva York Hacks/Hackers (http://meetupnyc.hackshackers.com) tiene cerca de 1500 miembros y sigue creciendo. En el último mes se abrieron cinco nuevos capítulos, uno de ellos el de Buenos Aires. Hacks/Hackers es el mejor espacio de "networking" a nivel mundial para encontrar relaciones, productos, servicios e ideas entre periodistas y tecnólogos de todo el mundo.

En el primer encuentro hablaremos sobre los objetivos de la organización fundada por Burt Herman (Storify.com (http://www.storify.com)) y Aron Pilhofer de The New York Times. Intercambiaremos información sobre las herramientas digitales disponibles que pueden usar los periodistas. Y estudiaremos desde el mundo de los programadores sus aportes en su capacidad para manejar grandes volúmenes de datos.

Analizaremos los grandes ejemplos de lo que puede hacer el periodismo digital (The New York Times, ProPublica, The Guardian) y las herramientas disponibles para que periodistas y programadores puedan trabajar juntos (Storify, Audioboo, Stroome, herramientas de Google).

También contaremos las primeras experiencias locales, y daremos accesos exclusivos a servicios novedosos en materia de comunicación digital.

Hacks/Hackers is coming to Buenos Aires This will be the inaugural Buenos Aires gathering of Hacks/Hackers, a group of journalists and technologists brought together to collaborate to build the future of media. The first event will be a social convening to talk about what you (and us) would like to see in the future. This group is part of a growing organization that held its first get-together in San Francisco in November of 2009 and now has thousands of members worldwide. Hacks/Hackers-affiliated events have also been held in Chicago and Washington DC, Austin, Atlanta, Boston, Birmingham, London, Los Angeles, México City and some african countries. Only New York Hacks/Hackers group has about 1500 members and growing.

Hacks/Hackers is, may be, the best networking arena between journalist and technologists around the world. And they've just opened five new chapters last month, one of them in Buenos Aires. In the first meeting we will discuss the objectives of the organization founded by Burt Herman (Storify.com), Aron Pilhofer of The New York Times, and currently co-directed by Jennifer 8. Lee Knight Foundation. We will exchange information on the digital tools available so journalists can use. And we will study what are the contributions from the world of programmers in their ability to handle large volumes of data.

There is a new world out there. We will analyze material on the great examples of what you can do the digital journalism (The New York Times, ProPublica, The Guardian) and the tools available to journalists and programmers can work together. We will also share the firsts local experiences, and give exclusive access to innovative services in digital communications.
