Montserratina 2019

Please join us all again for this year’s Monserratina. This is one ride that every year attracts huge numbers of cyclists not only from our group but from all cycling clubs in Catalunya.

La diada Montserratina is a yearly road cycling event organized by the Catalan cycling federation (FCC) and one of the last cycling events of the season. All cycling clubs in Catalunya are invited to join and climb to the monastery of Monserrat. There is no need to register or pay an entry fee, just climb with your bike to the Monastery. The main climb from Monistrol up to the monastery will be closed to traffic from 8:00am to 9:15am. After arriving to the summit every cyclist can collect a small commemorative pin provided by the FCC. At 9:45am the father rector of the Montserrat monastery will give blessing at the Mirador de los Apóstoles.

As every year we will leave early from Barcelona, Plaça Molina, so we arrive at Montserrat when the road up is closed to motorized traffic. With an average speed of 27-28km/h over 48km we would arrive at Monistrol well before 9am. Remember we are cycling in a large group so little effort needed to reach this average speed.

From the experience of past years we know it is difficult to keep a large group together especially with a mass event like this. Therefore, we will regroup at several points during the route, please take copy of the GPX route if you have a GPS device. The regroup points are indicated on the route map as POI´s.

Coffee stop after our descend from Montserrat probably in Olesa as most places in and around Monistrol are fully booked already.

Please make sure your bike is in proper riding condition as unnecessary technical stops will delay the group.
