Convened on occasion of exhibition Carrie Mae Weems, this program brings together 8 artists who embraced photography, film, & video as part of their entwined artistic & activist practices from mid 1970’s to 1990’s.

Invited artists will discuss various projects to recover then- unsung photographic histories; to rethink politics of representation in art & mass media; & to open art & educational institutions to the large & diverse publics they serve.
