BUY THE BOOK HERE!

We’re thrilled to host a special book club encounter with acclaimed author Mirinae Lee, who will join us in person to discuss her novel 8 Lives of a Century-Old Trickster.

This is a unique opportunity to read the book, bring your thoughts, and take part in a conversation directly with the author — asking your own questions and engaging in a lively, intimate discussion.

The event will take the form of a cozy book club session: we’ll gather together, open the floor for a moderated discussion, and invite everyone to join a Q&A with Mirinae.

This event is made possible thanks to the author's visit to the CCCB’s Kosmopolis Literary Festival — a biennial celebration of literature as a dialogue with the major issues of our time, bringing together authors, thinkers, and artists from around the world — and Editorial Salamandra, Mirinae Lee’s Spanish publisher.

How to join:

  1. Pick up a copy of 8 Lives of a Century-Old Trickster.
  2. Read ahead of the session.
  3. Come ready for a discussion and the rare chance to ask your questions directly to the author.

Already read the book? Perfect! This is your chance to revisit it with new insights and share your impressions directly with the author.

### About the Book

8 Lives of a Century-Old Trickster is inspired by the life of Lee’s great-aunt, one of the oldest women to flee North Korea. The novel unfolds through eight interconnected stories, each recounting a different episode in the protagonist’s extraordinary and turbulent life — from espionage and exile to survival and reinvention.
A dazzling work of imagination rooted in real history, Lee’s novel explores resilience, identity, and the many masks we wear to endure the world.
